Underage Idol Caught Smoking, Decision for Indefinite Suspension of Activities Issued
On March 5, STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, a Japanese entertainment agency, announced the indefinite suspension of “Go!Go!Kids” members Terasawa Kotou, who is only 17 years old.
This decision followed the leak of photos suggesting that Terasawa might have been smoking. After conducting an investigation, the agency confirmed that their actions had indeed violated regulations, leading to the indefinite suspension for self-reflection.
STARTO ENTERTAINMENT stated, “After directly confirming the situation with the individual involved, he acknowledged his inappropriate behavior.” The agency continued, “After several discussions, we decided to impose an indefinite suspension to allow him time for reflection and self-reassessment.”
Additionally, the agency mentioned that, as a result of this incident, they would strengthen the management system for Junior members, ensuring a more balanced approach between academic and entertainment commitments.
Apologizing for the concerns caused, the agency expressed, “We sincerely apologize to our fans and all those affected by the trouble this incident has caused.”
Terasawa Kotoyu joined STARTO ENTERTAINMENT in 2019 and officially became a member of Go!Go!Kids in 2022, marking the start of their entertainment career. Having gained attention as a promising Junior member, the recent controversy has raised uncertainty about their future.
With the severe decision of indefinite suspension, speculation now surrounds whether Terasawa will ever return to the stage and when a possible comeback may happen.
