Netizens Discover Lie in Kim Soo-hyun’s Statement
On March 14, the agency of actor Kim Soo-hyun, Gold Medalist, published a long official statement which claimed that the actor did date Kim Sae-ron but only after she has become an adult, debunking previous grooming allegations.
In addition, the agency mentioned a previously released photo of Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun where the actor is kissing the late actress’ cheeks, stating that the outfit Kim Sae-ron was wearing in those photos was released by a brand in June 2019, making it impossible for the photos to have been taken in 2016, unlike what YouTube channel Garo Sero claimed.
However, in the afternoon of the same day, netizens pointed out the shirt worn by Kim Sae-ron was originally a 15fa design released in 2015, and the reason the year 2019 appeared was because it was re-released in China in 2019. A Statement Based off Speculations?
On the other hand, the claim of Kim Soo-hyun’s agency is likely based off a topic titled “The released photo of Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron”, which was published on the Korean forum Pann, drawing massive attention with almost 300,000 views. The topic in question included the photo released by YouTuber Garo Sero during their “exposé” livestream session against Kim Soo-hyun, where the actor can be seen kissing Kim Sae-ron on the cheek.
In particular, according to Garo Sero, the aforementioned photo was taken in 2016, when the couple had been dating for a year and Kim Sae-ron was 17. Additionally, the photo matched the one previously published by Kim Sae-ron, where she and Kim Soo-hyun rubbed their cheeks together, and netizens inferred that this photo was taken in 2016 due to Kim Soo-hyun’s clothes and hairstyle. As a result, the two photos become damning evidence that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron dated while the actress was still a minor, leading to grooming allegations.
However, the new topic on Pann claimed that the shirt worn by Kim Sae-ron in both of the photos were actually released in 2019 – meaning that by the time the photo was taken, Kim Sae-ron has to be at least 20, no longer a minor. This means that Garo Sero was lying about the time the photos were taken.
As a result, many netizens start to doubt the other claims made by Garo Sero, especially regarding Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun dating since 2015. At the same time, many others still find the relationship troubling.
