Previously on February 21, BLACKPINK’s Jennie dropped a new song “ExtraL”, where she collaborated with Grammy-winning rapper and singer Doechii.

Upon its release, the newly-released track successfully floored both fans and netizens, most of whom couldn’t help but be in awe over Jennie’s cool image transformation and “slay” appearance.
However, the song is also drawing attention for a completely different reason – it is suspected of giving a shoutout to NJZ (NewJeans), who is currently in a legal battle against their former agencies – ADOR and HYBE.

In particular, in “ExtraL”, there was a moment where Jennie sings, “This is for my girls with no sponsors, they got they own fundin’”. As NJZ is now also on their own feets, trying to establish a career and new agency after unilaterally leaving HYBE, many believe Jennie’s lyrics are indirectly mentioning NewJeans.
“Jennie knew she had to honor her indie daughters NJZ..”, a netizen wrote, while another commented, “The shout-out for NJZ oh Jennie loves our girls”. Some also expressed their wish to see a collaboration between the two artists.
In fact, Jennie and NewJeans are known to be somewhat close, as they were previously spotted interacting happily at 2NE1’s concert in Korea back in September, 2024. NewJeans also once revealed a gift they received from Jennie, proving an iconic friendship between top-tier female idols.
