Interest in former Japanese AV actress Asuka Kirara has surged following a scandal involving Joo Hak-nyeon, now a former member of the K-pop group THE BOYZ. On June 18, reports surfaced of a private meeting between the two at a bar in Tokyo, where they were seen drinking and engaging in physical contact. As rumors of prostitution emerged, public backlash intensified.

Joo Hak-nyeon admitted to attending the gathering but denied any illegal activity, stating, “I never engaged in any illegal acts. I reflect deeply and apologize to those who were shocked.” That same day, his agency ONE HUNDRED suspended his activities and later confirmed his departure from THE BOYZ and contract termination, citing the seriousness of the matter.
Born in 1988, Asuka Kirara began her AV career in 2007 and appeared in over 400 adult films. She gained recognition with awards such as Best Actress and HD Award at the 2009 SkyPerfecTV! Adult Broadcasting Awards. After retiring from the AV industry in 2020, she transitioned into a career as an influencer and model. In South Korea, she held fan meetings in 2017 and 2018, and in July 2023, she received a Special Award in the Overseas Model category at the Korea Arts and Culture Awards.

Following the scandal, criticism of Asuka Kirara’s presence in Korean media has intensified, with some netizens questioning her rebranding and role in domestic entertainment. Comments like “Is she trying to rebrand as a model here?” and “Why are we normalizing adult entertainment culture?” reflect growing discomfort.
Despite the controversy, Asuka Kirara has remained silent. On June 18, she posted photos from a new photoshoot on her social media, appearing unaffected as the backlash continues to grow.
