Who is the rookie male idol who “ignored” IU? His composer father even sends apology text to IU (Radio Star)

On the June 19th broadcast of MBC’s variety show “Radio Star”, Yoon Sang, Choi Daniel, Kwon Jung-yeol and Ko Young-bae will appear in a special episode titled “I Hate Taking Off My Glasses”. The episode is expected to feature engaging conversations about their pride in wearing glasses.

Yoon Sang, RIIZE Anton’s father, will join the show. When Kim Gura questioned him “This is a ‘glasses’ special episode, but you didn’t originally wear glasses, did you?“, Yoon Sang shared a photo from his elementary school days. He explained that he initially avoided wearing glasses due to societal prejudices but later embraced horn-rimmed glasses, inspiring other musicians like Yoon Jong-shin, Kim Hyeon-cheol and Lee Juck to follow his style, causing laughter.

Yoon Sang shared updates about living an idol’s life thanks to his son Anton, who suddenly aspired to become a singer after being inspired by lyricist Kim Eana. Despite initially opposing Anton’s decision, Yoon Sang eventually supported his son’s dream, admitting, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

He also revealed that there was a compelling reason why Anton ended up at SM Entertainment. Yoon Sang signed an album contract with SM in the early 2000s, noting, “Back then, SM was specialized in idols, so my colleagues were surprised when I released an album there.” Reflecting on Anton’s debut with RIIZE under SM, he remarked, “It turns out, it was part of SM’s grand plan.”

When asked how he would react if his second son showed interest in entering the entertainment industry, Yoon Sang confessed, “Until earlier this year, I was worried, thinking, ‘It would be problematic if you also go this route.’ My second son seems to envy his older brother.”

Yoon Sang also confessed to having nagged IU during her early career. He sent a long apology text after watching the drama “My Mister”, expressing regret for his previous comments.

He shared a story about his son Anton’s first encounter with IU when Anton was an elementary student. Anton, who initially showed interest in IU, turned away when he met her, which amused Yoon Sang. Despite this, IU warmly interacted with Anton, leaving a lasting impression on him.
