Won Bin’s Last Messages to Kim Sae-ron?
On March 13, images of what were allegedly Won Bin’s last messages to the late actress Kim Sae-ron were revealed, drawing significant attention. In these messages, Won Bin is shown to have offered Kim Sae-ron financial assistance several time.
In particular, in a message sent to Kim Sae-ron via his manager on July 12, 2023, Won Bin said, “Do you need help with your debts? The number doesn’t matter”. To this, Kim Sae-ron responded via a text on July 15, saying, “I really appreciate your help, but I want to resolve this matter by myself this time.”
Then, on July 20 of the same year, Won Bin anonymously transferred 230 million won (approx 158,000 USD) to the medical account of Kim Sae-ron’s mother, with the caption, “For ice-cream cone”. It was even previously reported that Won Bin once quitted smoking out of care for Kim Sae-ron, leading to high praise for the actor.

Previously, Kim Se-ui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute (Garo Sero), conducted a live broadcast revealing additional information provided by Kim Sae-ron‘s family. Among the disclosures was a message allegedly sent by Kim Sae-ron to Kim Soo-hyun on March 19, 2024—the estimated date she received a document demanding repayment of 700 million won (approx 480,000 USD).
In the message, Kim Sae-ron pleaded with Kim Soo-hyun to give her more time to gradually repay the debt using her earnings from future projects, instead of demanding immediate payment. However, according to Kim Se-ui, despite her repeated attempts to call and message him, Kim Soo-hyun did not respond. When she borrowed her cousin’s phone to call him, that number was reportedly given to an entertainment journalist, leading to multiple calls from reporters trying to verify her identity.
In the comment section of the video, a netizen left a shocking comment, saying, “I watched another video and heard that Kim Sae-ron’s aunt is about to release a three-minute audio recording. Also, Won Bin apparently knew that Kim Sae-ron was suffering because of the 700 million won debt and was going to pay it off for her. Won Bin is truly amazing; I feel like crying. But Kim Soo-hyun, who has hundreds of billions of won in assets, couldn’t even be patient and instead pressured her with a demand letter. In the end, he drove her out of her home and pushed her to her death?”
Kim Sae-ron’s aunt revealed that Won Bin was the first person to arrive at Kim Sae-ron’s funeral. Since getting married, the actor has rarely made public appearances, but he made an exception for this occasion. A journalist captured a moment where Won Bin stood in front of Kim Sae-ron’s portrait for a long time, quietly wiping away tears and speaking with her family.
Reports also suggest that when Kim Sae-ron was being pursued for debt repayment by her former agency, Won Bin offered to help cover the ₩700 million she owed. To this, netizens commented, “She was saved by him in the movie ‘The Man from Nowhere’, but in real life, no one could save her from its cruelty.”

On the other hand, Won Bin and Kim Sae-ron starred together in the 2010 movie “The Man from Nowhere”. In 2010, while still an elementary school student, Kim Sae-ron publish a photo on SNS platform Cyworld, stating, “A mini laptop that Uncle Won Bin picked out for my birthday. Thank you. I will grow up to be a righteous adult like you.”
In response to this post, a netizen left a malicious comment, “Why are you bragging about a laptop? Acting all high and mighty when you’re ugly”, to which Kim Sae-ron calmly responded:
“I’m not showing off my laptop. I just wanted to express how warm and kind Uncle Won Bin is for caring about me, even though I’m just an ordinary child who could have been easily overlooked. I won’t delete this post.”
After Kim Sae-ron’s passing, Won Bin was seen attending her funeral at Asan Medical Center in Seoul on March 17. Reports state that he was visibly emotional throughout the service, wiping away tears as he conversed with acquaintances before leaving the funeral hall.
