Wonder Girls may be planning a reunion for the first time in eight years—though a complete lineup might not include Sunmi.
On July 5, a video titled “Wonderfuls! This is not a dream. Are Wonder Girls talking about a reunion?” was uploaded on Wonder Girls’s Yubin YouTube channel, featuring a heartfelt discussion among members Yubin, Hyelim, Sohee, and Sunye.
Yubin asked, “What do you think would happen if we worked together again—like a reunion?” She expressed how deeply moved she was by 2NE1’s recent reunion concert, which inspired her to think about getting back together.
“Minzy was part of FC Top Girl with me. Their concert was so touching and beautiful. It made me think it’d be great if we could reunite too. Some members missed out on songs like ‘I Feel You’ or ‘Why So Lonely,’ so fans would probably be curious to see that lineup on stage.”
Sunye added, “Fans miss us so much. I often hear that. I was away from the industry for 10 years. Coming back, I realized the stories we shared as Wonder Girls weren’t just ours—people outside our group feel connected to them too.”
Yubin playfully imagined a comeback, “It’s fun just to think about. Performing together, going out for good food, doing a music tour—it all sounds exciting.”
Hyelim responded positively, saying, “A music trip sounds amazing,” while Sohee chimed in, “We don’t know when, but if everything aligns, I think it could be really fun. We’ve all changed so much that it would be fascinating to see how we’ve grown.”
Wonder Girls debuted in 2007 with “Irony”, rising to fame with hits like “Tell Me,” “So Hot,” and “Nobody.” Originally a five-member group consisting of Sunye, HyunA, Sohee, Sunmi, and Yeeun, the group saw multiple lineup changes over the years due to health, personal, and career decisions.
Yubin replaced HyunA in 2007, Hyelim filled in for Sunmi in 2010, and by 2015, Sunye and Sohee had departed, making room for Sunmi’s return. The group officially disbanded in 2017 after releasing their farewell single “Draw Me” to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
Though Sunmi wasn’t present in the recent video, the reunion talks have reignited hope among longtime “Wonderfuls” that the iconic girl group might grace the stage once more—perhaps even in a new form.
