Woori Bank Selects New Advertising Model From Same Group As Competitive Bank Model “Violation Of Business Ethics”
According to the financial industry on February 13, Jang Wonyoung recently signed a one-year advertising contract with Woori Bank. She completed filming for the commercial last month, and the advertisement is set to be released this month.
A financial industry official told Chosun Ilbo, “Jang Wonyoung was chosen because she aligns well with Woori Bank’s image, and her name is similar to ‘won’ in ‘Woori Won Banking’.”
Currently, singer IU serves as the main model for Woori Financial Group, while six-member boy group RIIZE represents Woori Bank. Jang Wonyoung is expected to work alongside RIIZE to enhance Woori Bank’s brand image.
Meanwhile, IVE’s An Yujin has been the face of Hana Financial Group, Woori Bank’s competitor, since June 2023. At the time, Hana Financial Group stated, “An Yujin’s bright and healthy image aligns well with our core value of spreading positive energy in society.“
Jang Wonyoung and An Yujin both competed in Mnet’s 2018 survival show “Produce 48” as trainees from Starship Entertainment. With this latest development, another round of competition between them seems inevitable.
In the 276th episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” aired on January 15, An Yujin shared her struggles from the survival program, saying, “I thought I was well-loved, but when I joined the audition show, I realized there were people who disliked me. Even if I didn’t do anything wrong, some people just didn’t like me. I started getting caught up in online reactions.”
Jang Wonyoung added “I think I did it because I was young and didn’t know better. If I had known, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. It was the innocence of youth“, causing laughter.
