2PM Wooyoung Lightheartedly Confronts 14-Year-Old “Scolding” Incident with INFINITE’s Sungjong
The humorous reunion took place on May 17 on the YouTube channel BBQ: The Most Delicious Chicken in the World, where Sungjong and fellow INFINITE member Woohyun appeared as guests.
Before their meeting, 2PM Woo Young read a cryptic viewer message, “14 years ago, we got a good scolding from hyung on a plane and now we’ve grown up and come to see you.”
Visibly puzzled, he asked, “Who’s the friend I supposedly bullied back then?” to which Sungjong replied, “It’s me. Do you remember?”
Wooyoung admitted he didn’t, prompting Sungjong to quip, “Of course. The victim always remembers, but the suspect never does.” Woohyun joked, “Sungjong still screams AAAA whenever you appear on TV,” while Sungjong added with a laugh, “I just turned it off. Immediately.”
The incident took place in 2011 during a 6-hour overseas flight for a music show schedule. Sungjong, then a junior idol, recalled sitting next to Wooyoung, who offered a stream of unsolicited advice.
“He talked the whole time,” Sungjong said. “Things like, ‘You need to talk to build team chemistry,’ or ‘It’s better to fight than to avoid conflict.'”
Wooyoung jokingly cringed over his past unsolicited advice, while Sungjong admitted he just wanted to sleep and thought Wooyoung was a bit of a know-it-all. Despite the awkward moment, Sungjong said he still listened out of respect.
Wooyoung, now looking back with amusement and regret, said, “Sungjong was so polite and reserved. I wanted him to feel confident. I guess I thought we were closer than we actually were.”
He then offered a sincere apology, 14 years in the making.
Sungjong ended the story on a high note, “The only people who’ve lectured me are TVXQ‘s Yunho and you.” Wooyoung grinned, replying, “That’s a huge honor. Being mentioned alongside Yunho? Only the chosen ones receive his wisdom!”
As INFINITE celebrates their 15th anniversary, the wholesome exchange was a nostalgic and humorous reminder of how far both idols have come—and how youthful memories can turn into lifelong friendships.
