Netflix Confirms Star-Studded Cast for new K-Drama: Song Hye-kyo, Gong Yoo, Honey Lee, and More

Netflix has confirmed the production news of “Slowly and Intensely” (tentative title) along with the reliable casting lineup. Following Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo, Seolhyun, Cha Seung-won, and Honey Lee (Lee Ha-nee) will be joining the cast.

Set against the backdrop of Korea’s entertainment industry from the 1960s to the 1980s—a time rife with brutality and violence, “Slowly and Intensely” (tentative title) is a Netflix series that follows the journey of individuals who, despite having nothing, throw themselves into the pursuit of dazzling success.
The script is penned by Noh Hee-kyung, the renowned writer behind beloved “life dramas” such as “Our Blues”, “Dear My Friends”, “It’s Okay, That’s Love”, “That Winter, The Wind Blows” and “Worlds Within”. Known for evoking deep emotions—sometimes tears, sometimes laughter and empathy—Noh’s involvement alone has already heightened anticipation for “Slowly and Intensely” (tentative title). Adding to the excitement, director Lee Yoon-jung, celebrated for her work on “Coffee Prince”, “Cheese in the Trap” and “Heart to Heart”, will helm the series, ensuring both artistic quality and compelling storytelling.

The cast lineup is as powerful as the creative team. Song Hye-kyo plays Min-ja, a woman who has endured countless hardships since childhood, forging an unbreakable inner strength. Determined to escape her harsh reality, she takes a bold leap into Korea’s music industry.

Gong Yoo takes on the role of Dong-gu. A childhood friend of Min-ja, Dong-gu grows up experiencing various ups and downs alongside her before stepping into the music industry with her. While unpredictable and reckless, he is fiercely loyal, always standing by Min-ja’s side.

Kim Seol-hyun portrays Min-hee, a character intertwined with Min-ja in a love-hate relationship since childhood. Through Min-hee, Kim Seol-hyun will showcase a multifaceted performance, transitioning between innocence and defiance. Cha Seung-won plays Gil-yeo, a top composer of the era. Every singer who has passed through his hands has achieved success, making him a formidable figure in the music industry. Honey Lee takes on the role of Yang-ja, Min-hee’s mother and an aspiring singer. Despite financial hardships and a harsh reality, Yang-ja never gives up on her dream, embodying relentless determination and passion.

With the trustworthy combination of writer Noh Hee-kyung and director Lee Yoon-jung, along with an electrifying cast lineup, “Slowly and Intensely” (tentative title) is already one of the most anticipated upcoming Netflix releases.
