During an interview held on Nov 19th at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul to commemorate the conclusion of JTBC’s drama “A Virtuous Business”, Yeon Woo-jin revealed his role model.
Yeon Woo-jin shared, “I’ve watched senior So-yeon as the protagonist in dramas since I was young. Seeing her remain steadfast in her position over a long time, continuing to act in a healthy manner, gave me a really good impression. She still writes numbers in her script as if it were a diary. Watching her meticulousness, her frame of dedication, made me feel immense respect, realizing she’s an actress who has endured it all.“
He emphasized, “People often ask in interviews who my role model is. Now, I feel like saying, ‘My role model is Kim So-yeon.’ I’ve come to want to protect my craft just as she has, and I’m so grateful for the inspiration she’s given me.”
Yeon Woo-jin expressed his special respect, “The drama touches on Seo Taiji, doesn’t it? In my era, Seo Taiji was a significant presence in our lives. There was power in his name. I’ve lived trusting that power, and even as I embarked on this career as someone who loves culture and the arts, Seo Taiji always held a place in my heart. Now, another person has entered that space, and it’s Kim So-yeon.“
He added, “Kim So-yeon truly is a great figure. Watching her act brought something alive inside me. The inspiration I once felt listening to Seo Taiji’s music, I’ve now felt through Kim So-yeon.”
Meanwhile, Kim So-yeon married fellow actor Lee Sang-woo in 2017, marking their 8th year of marriage this year. Known as one of the entertainment industry’s model couples, the two starred together in the 2016 MBC drama “Happy Home”.
