YG Entertainment has officially announced the unveiling of the first member of its upcoming girl group, set for midnight on May 28 (KST). The highly anticipated project, titled ‘YG NEXT MONSTER’, marks the company’s first new girl group initiative following the global success of BLACKPINK and the recent debut of BABYMONSTER.

On May 27, YG launched a countdown timer on its official blog, signaling the beginning of its next chapter in artist development. The announcement has quickly gained traction among global K-pop fans, especially in light of previous statements made by executive producer Yang Hyun-suk, who confirmed that both a new boy group and girl group are currently preparing for debut.

According to YG, the upcoming girl group will consist of four members. Performance videos showcasing each trainee’s skills will be released sequentially. Yang Hyun-suk emphasized transparency in the evaluation process, stating, “We hope the public will assess each member based solely on their raw talent.”

The reveal of the first member carries particular weight as it symbolizes the group’s official entry into the competitive K-pop landscape. Given YG’s track record in launching world-class artists such as BLACKPINK, who have headlined international tours and dominated global charts, expectations for the new group are exceptionally high.
