According to legal sources on June 17, the Supreme Court’s First Division (Chief Justice Ma Yong-ju) is scheduled to deliver its final ruling on Yoo Ah In’s charges of habitual drug use and related offenses at 10:10 a.m. on July 3. The case was filed with the Supreme Court on March 12, and on April 17, it was assigned to the First Division, which has been reviewing legal issues for nearly two months.

Yoo Ah In was indicted without detention in October 2023 for allegedly administering propofol 181 times between September 2020 and March 2022, illegally obtaining sleeping pills under another person’s name 44 times from May 2021 to August 2022, smoking marijuana in the United States in January 2022, inciting an acquaintance to smoke marijuana, tampering with evidence during a police investigation into his drug use, and pressuring a YouTuber who reported his marijuana use to retract their statement.
In the first trial on September 3, 2024, Yoo Ah In was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 2 million KRW, with immediate detention ordered. The court found him guilty of marijuana use, habitual use of medical narcotics, and illegal acquisition under another’s name, but acquitted him of charges related to inciting marijuana use and evidence tampering. Both Yoo Ah In’s side and the prosecution appealed the ruling.

In the second trial on February 18, 2025, Yoo Ah In’s sentence was reduced to one year in prison with two years of probation and a 2 million KRW fine, leading to his release from Seoul Detention Center after five months of detention.
During this period, two films starring Yoo Ah In were released. The Match and HighFive reached audiences in theaters without editing out his scenes.
