Yoo Jae-suk & SHINee’s Key Slams Rude Celebrities: You Won’t Last Long With That Attitude

Veteran MC Yoo Jae-suk and Key of SHINee, who has been in the industry for 17 years, have spoken out against the poor behavior of some junior celebrities, emphasizing the importance of humility and professionalism for career longevity.
In particular, on the May 3rd episode of the YouTube variety show “Pingguego,” Key reflected on how far he’s come in the industry, admitting he never imagined he would last this long. He commented, “I think younger idols are just beginning to dream long-term. But back then, people constantly asked if we could last.”
Yoo Jae-suk added, “You hear questions like ‘How long can you keep doing this?’ and even if they’re well-meaning, they’re stressful to hear.” He then emphasized that those who stay humble and keep giving their best tend to have lasting careers, stating, “You can just sense when someone won’t make it far. It’s not about a specific person, it’s just a vibe.”

Later, when asked if he ever gives advice to juniors, the MC replied, “Some people start acting unpleasantly arrogant. But even if I told them something, would they listen?”
To this, Key strongly agreed, noting that many idols start very young. “There are juniors who I’m sure will regret their behavior by their late 20s. They think their reputation exists only in this bubble and forget it travels outside”, he stated.
The SHINee member recalled, “People who once said ‘Music starts in 3, 2, 1’ on music shows are now head producers and main writers. If I had acted like a jerk back then, I’d be uncomfortable now.” However, despite wanting to guide his juniors, Key confessed there’s a sadness in knowing he can’t say much because, “If a single comment could change them, they’d have already changed.”
Finally, Yoo Jae-suk concluded by saying, “Unless someone wants to hear advice, there’s no point in offering it. It’s not an easy thing to do.”
