Yoo Seung-ho’s Hidden Acts of Kindness Revealed: Quietly Helping Sick Children and Abandoned Cats

On May 29, Newsen confirmed that the 30-year-old actor has quietly been donating to help sick children and volunteering for stray animals — all without media attention, fanfare, or even his agency’s awareness.

The story came to light after clips of Yoo Seung Ho commuting to and from his current stage play, Killing Caesar, began circulating online. Amid fan praise for his down-to-earth demeanor, a netizen shared a deeply personal story:
“My daughter was seriously ill and receiving treatment at the hospital. Yoo Seung-ho made a donation that helped cover the costs. My wife wrote him a thank-you letter at the time, and we’ve never stopped feeling grateful since.”
Newsen reports that Yoo made the donation so quietly that even his agency was unaware. His love for children, perhaps rooted in his own beginnings as a child actor, has fueled his consistent support for pediatric care.

Most recently, Yoo participated in McDonald’s “Happy Walk” campaign, donating 10 million KRW (~$7,300 USD) along with his entire ambassador fee to RMHC Korea. The funds will go toward building housing near Seoul hospitals to support families of children undergoing intensive treatment.
Beyond his charity work for children, Yoo Seung-ho is also known for his love of animals, particularly stray cats. For years, he has personally driven to animal shelters without a manager to volunteer. His social media bio reads: “Cats conquering the Earth,” a nod to the two stray cats he’s adopted.
In a 2023 interview with JTBC Newsroom, Yoo shared his future dream:
“This might sound strange, but I want to save as much money as I can through acting. My dream is to open an animal shelter someday.”

According to his agency 333, even they are often surprised by Yoo’s giving spirit:
“Yoo Seung-ho has been consistently engaged in volunteering and donations, but he feels shy about publicizing such efforts. Often, we only find out through fans’ eyewitness accounts.”

Meanwhile, Yoo is currently starring in the critically praised stage play Killing Caesar at Sogang University’s Mary Hall Grand Theater, running until July 20. A modern reimagining of Julius Caesar, the production casts Yoo as Brutus, where his emotive performance is receiving widespread acclaim.
