Yoon Shi-yoon has officially stepped into the world of theater, captivating audiences with his stage debut in the modern adaptation of the classic Korean play “Death Song.” The press call for the production was held on July 10 at the LG Art Center U+ Stage in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, where Yoon appeared alongside co-stars Jeon So-min, Seo Ye-hwa, and Lee Chung-joo.

“Death Song,” a reimagining of Yoon Dae-seong’s revered work, is set in the 1920s and explores the passionate lives of young people yearning for love, freedom, and artistic expression during a time of intense political and social upheaval.

This new version modernizes the narrative by incorporating real-life historical figures such as Na Hye-seok, presenting the themes through a contemporary lens. Yoon’s performance was a standout, not just for its emotional depth but also for the actor’s striking physical transformation.

In preparation for the play and his upcoming drama “Taxi Driver 3,” Yoon underwent an extreme weight-loss regimen, aiming for a skeletal appearance to embody the psychological turmoil of his character.

His dedication saw his body fat drop to 3.6%, achieved through rigorous workouts and fasting.

While some fans expressed concern over his health, others praised Yoon’s bold choice to fully immerse himself in his theatrical debut.

The actor, best known for his television roles, has taken a major leap into live performance, demonstrating a new dimension of his artistic range.
