Just one year after the debut of BABYMONSTER, YG Entertainment is making headlines once again with the surprise announcement of a new four-member girl group.

The unexpected news was delivered by YG founder Yang Hyun-suk through a video update, which also included developments related to the agency’s current and upcoming artists. Yang Hyun-suk confirmed that the lineup for the new group has already been finalized and that member introductions would begin shortly—starting with the first reveal on May 28.
This announcement has generated significant buzz among fans, especially as it breaks from YG’s usual pattern of spacing out group debuts—particularly within the same gender. With excitement building, speculation has taken over online forums, and one name continues to stand out: Youngseo, a former finalist of JTBC and BELIFT LAB’s survival show R U Next? and original member of HYBE’s girl group ILLIT.
Youngseo placed second in R U Next?, earning her a spot in ILLIT’s final debut lineup. However, just months later, BELIFT LAB announced that Youngseo had departed the group, citing a mutual contract termination. No further details were shared, leaving fans both surprised and concerned about her future.

In the months since, multiple fan accounts have claimed to spot Youngseo near YG Entertainment’s headquarters, including rumors that she had joined The Black Label, YG’s subsidiary. While she was ultimately not part of The Black Label’s girl group MEOVV, sightings of her reportedly training with other female YG trainees have only intensified speculation that she could be among the four upcoming members.
Though nothing has been officially confirmed, anticipation continues to grow. If the rumors prove true, Youngseo’s re-debut under a major label like YG Entertainment could mark a powerful comeback and second chance at stardom. Fans have taken to social media expressing both hope and cautious optimism.
