Younha Gets Married: Her Husband Is “Science Cookie”, a YouTuber with 440,000 Subscribers
According to SPOTV News on March 31, Younha held her wedding on March 30 at 6 PM at a hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. The groom Younha exchanged vows with is none other than Science Cookie, a popular science YouTuber with over 440,000 subscribers.
Science Cookie is a former physics teacher who now creates science content on YouTube. He is loved by viewers for explaining complex scientific theories like quantum mechanics and relativity in an easy and engaging manner. His video series was recognized in 2018 as an Excellent Science Culture Product by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. He now also shares the joy of science through various lectures.
The couple held a small wedding ceremony attended by about 80 guests, including family, relatives and close acquaintances. Singer Paul Kim performed his hit song “Every Day, Every Moment” as a congratulatory performance to celebrate the couple’s new beginning.
Younha, often referred to as the “Space Goddess”, has shown deep interest in space and science throughout her career. Her hit songs often contain scientific themes such as “Event Horizon”, which metaphorically compares a breakup to the boundary of a black hole and achieved a miraculous chart resurgence, and “Oort Cloud”, which personifies the Voyager spacecraft destined to reach the solar system’s boundary in about 300 years.
In 2023, Younha was the only cultural artist invited to a presidential luncheon with pioneers in the space industry. She described her albums as “products that could not have been born without the achievements of science”. With a shared passion for science, Younha and Science Cookie grew close, fell in love, and eventually decided to marry.
When announcing her marriage, Younha said, “I’ve met a dependable partner in life and we’ve decided to get married” that partner was Science Cookie. He also expressed his affection for Younha by posting “Currently in love” on his SNS.
Notably, their wedding date March 30 also marked the anniversary of the release of Younha’s hit song “Event Horizon” three years ago. On a date with special meaning in Younha’s musical journey, the couple vowed eternal love and opened a new horizon in life.
Younha debuted in Japan in 2004 with the single “Yubikiri” and began her Korean activities in 2006. She has since become a beloved vocalist with numerous hit songs including “Password 486”, “Waiting”, “Broke up today”, “Comet”, “Umbrella”, “The Real Reason Why We Broke Up”, “Event Horizon” and “Oort Cloud”.
