“Friendly Rivalry” Original Webtoon

The drama “Friendly Rivalry” is based on a 76-episode Naver webtoon of the same name. The webtoon captures the madness and fierce competition fueled by obsession between Yoo Je-i (played by Hyeri) and the naive transfer student Woo Seul-gi (played by Jung Soo-bin). In the story, Yoo Je-i is the only friend who helped Seu-lgi, who had been ostracized after transferring from a rural school. Later, the two become indispensable to each other, but gradually a twisted love begins to emerge that blurs the line between obsession and friendship.

Set against the backdrop of a prestigious school attended exclusively by top students, the webtoon portrays the intense competition in South Korea’s college entrance exams while realistically depicting the protagonists’ distorted friendship and emotional journey, which has garnered great popularity among readers.
