Former LE SSERAFIM Member Kim Garam Quietly Resurfaces as Student Director in University Video
On April 15, a freshman welcome video was uploaded to the official YouTube channel of Konkuk University’s Department of Media and Acting. The video, which congratulates the incoming class of 2025, includes end credits listing the participating students. Among them is Kim Garam, noted as a member of the directing team confirming her behind-the-scenes involvement in the project.
Kim Garam was admitted to Konkuk University last year after graduating from Seoul Performing Arts High School. Her quiet return has sparked attention online, as it marks a rare glimpse into her current life following her highly publicized departure from the K-pop industry.
Kim Garam debuted in 2022 as a member of LE SSERAFIM under Source Music, a label managed by HYBE. However, just before and after the group’s debut, multiple allegations surfaced accusing her of school violence during her middle school years. The agency initially denied the claims, calling them “distorted and maliciously edited,” and threatened legal action.
Despite their defense, public backlash grew stronger. According to the legal representatives of the alleged victim, Source Music’s denial of the bullying incident caused the victim severe psychological distress, requiring psychiatric treatment.
In a major development, it was later confirmed that Kim Garam had been subject to a disciplinary ruling by a school violence committee in 2018. The committee ordered her and her parents to complete a mandatory special education program. The alleged victim, in turn, was granted protective counseling under the School Violence Prevention Act.
As the controversy escalated, Kim Garam halted all activities. Just two months after LE SSERAFIM’s debut, she terminated her exclusive contract with Source Music and officially left the group.
Since then, Kim Garam has been living a quiet life as a student. Her recent appearance in the university video suggests she is pursuing a new path in media and production behind the scenes.
