At the end of its first year, NewJeans has pocketed a series of unprecedented achievements, making it a phenomenon. Thanks to the right strategy of Min Hee Jin, the five girls made their debut with the title of “super rookies,” steadily reaching the peak of their careers.
In just 2023, NewJeans successfully conquered the domestic market, becoming a nationwide sensation with consecutive hits Ditto – OMG and E.P Get Up. The group also ventured into the international scene at an astonishing pace, making their mark on the Hot 100 just four months after debut. The unique musical colors, intriguing concepts, and generational significance helped NewJeans rise to the top as a leading girl group.
Recently, NewJeans continued its record-breaking streak by achieving a staggering milestone: the entire album reached 1 billion streams on the world’s largest music platform, Spotify. In the gen 4 category, NewJeans stands out as the artist with the largest streaming strength.
Since their debut E.P, “Hype Boy” and “Attention” helped NewJeans become a “digital music conqueror.” The two songs alternately topped the charts. 2023 marked the release of the single album “OMG” and E.P “Get Up,” with the latter surpassing the success of the former. In Spotify’s 2023 summary, NewJeans’ “OMG” ranked #48 in the world’s most-streamed songs.
In addition, the official promotion of NewJeans’ entire album also collectively reached 1 million copies in sales on the Circle Chart. For Kpop girl groups, album sales usually lag behind those of boy groups. However, NewJeans achieves a balance between digital music achievements and revenue, being likened to an all-rounder.
Within just one year of activity, NewJeans has achieved milestones that many long-standing artists aspire to. Even compared to the global girl group BLACKPINK, NewJeans outperformed in the Daesang category. In the 2023 season, the girl group from ADOR achieved the Daesang three times, holding seven Daesang awards with three categories for Song of the Year.
